which sort of task will be suitable for a hyperactive kid?-cognitive or psychomotor?

There is also the fact that the kid is a kid, and a relatively large amount of activity is normal and fun should be encouraged. For example, very young children are considered healthy if they are moving around a lot and making sounds. If a child is running around or noisy...he SHOULD be. That is one side of the 'controlling your hyperactive kid' argument.
Diet can make a difference also. Too many sugary foods don't help the situation.
Medication is the last resort; who wants their child to take tons of pills?

More information is needed to answer this question. First, how old is the child? Has this child actually been diagnosed by a physician as being hyperactive? How many hours per day does the child normally sleep? How much sugar or sugary foods does the child normally eat? Does the child ever sit and be still for periods of time? For example, is (s)he very active for an hour then sit still watching tv or reading, etc. for a half hour? More info is needed.

My son is 7 years old and will be 8 in July he is what they call ODD and he is so very hyper its not funny. I have to wear him down by taking him to a park, make him take walks with me, and give him coffee its a natural remedy I found out about from my sons doctor. Yeah it sounds like a funny thing to do but I give my son sweet tasting coffee so its not so hard for him to drink but I only do that when I really really cant do anything else. My son has other problems as well and he has to see Psychologist's. I have kept him off meds but I am going nuts with how he has turned out and the hyperactivity is just the start of it all and he went on having other problems so I think me not having him on meds did something else as well. I know this is allot for you to deal with and the best action is to talk to his/her doctor and find a good plan and if meds are there for him then take it cause my son is bad really bad now and I cant control it anymore. Best of Luck and remember the doctor you have for your son is not just there for health reasons they are there to help you out with anything else that can later become a health issue.
