i really like this guy and i know he likes me. Hes been giving me lots of hints lately about us getting together and also inituating a lot of physical contact. Apart from that hes also told my friend he likes me. I really want to ask him out, but the thing is, up until about a month ago i thought he just liked my friend and no one else. She doesnt like him back so nothing will or will ever happen, he says hes over her but im not so sure by he way he acts around her. Hes not a player or anything, hes a decent guy and our friendship has suddenly got really close in the last two months or so. Im scared that if we go out il feel second best to my friend all the time. Should i just go for it or wait til im sure hes over her and maybe loose my chance?

I don't see anything wrong with liking another person and then quickly liking someone else.. I say go for it.. While you guys are together, you can see how he acts around her. If he's still nervous around her then you need to talk. But don't give up this opportunity just because you have suspicions.

Next time he drops a hint at the two of you getting together, ask him when he's going to stop hinting around and make it happen. If he's spending more time with you than your friend then that should be your clue of who he wants to be with.

Why don't you slow down a bit and let him ask you out on that first special date? Maybe he is still working through his feelings for her and hasn't quite transferred them all to you. Give him some time and I bet it will be worth the wait.

Let him ask you out. When/if that happens, take it one day at a time. See how you feel. If you still feel jealous of his previous feelings for you friend than don't take it any further.
