Its the edible wax they use to keep the apples fresh,there is a vegetable wash you can use on it if you want to remove this residue. Its not harmful. Or you can just use soap but rinse really well.

wax to keep them fresh... wash them ina dab of dishsoap in a sink of cold water but you can also buy something at the market to was fruit and veggies in

wax. You've just loosened it by washing.

Use Dawn to wash them with. Gets all that wax off nicely.

its a nasty parafin wax that are put on them so they can be stored longer. Wash all fruits and veggies VERY well with a mix of half water, half hydrogen peroxide, and a squeeze of lemon juice
