I think you know the answer before you asked. Any product that goes through hundreds of processes is going to be full of chemicals and de-nourished by high temperature cooking so it is
then necessary to add nutritional additives to make them sound healthy. See these eye opening sites : www.dietbites.com/Diet-Muse (definitely states they make you gain weight.)

On the other hand ......www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/....states
a study has found eating whole-grain breakfast cereals seven or more times per week can lower the risk of heart failure, etc. .
Conducted by researchers in Division of Aging at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, and based on an analysis of the observational Physicians’ Health Study. Physicians who ate a whole-grain breakfast cereal seven or more times per week were 28 percent less likely to develop heart failure over the course of the study than those who never ate such cereal.
Save your money, get better chemical free nutrition by buying organic natural products - your body will thank you for it. In the long run they are cheaper, you will have far fewer sicknesses and fewer doctor visits and fewer medicines. And you will feel so much better and look so much better. You will not have weight problems. I have been on a primarily wholefood, vegetarian diet with a good proportion of raw organic vegetables, fruits, nuts, healthy non fat oils, natural whole grains, pure organic diary products, fresh fruit juices, avoid adulterated and heavily processed foods and have maintained more or less the same weight for countless years. Gives me boundless energy and cannot remember the last time I had to see a doctor. I highly recommend it.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/0M425
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

All cereal has too much sugar and too much salt in them, and major amounts of so called safe chemicals. No chemicals are safe. Your body cannot digest chemicals. Your poor liver has to do that and works overtime trying to rid your body of these toxins.
Too much sugar can cause diabetes and too much fat can harden your arteries.
The only safe bet is porridge or one of the all natural cereals like Stredded wheat. Then don't ruin it by adding sugar.

If there were chemicals in cereals i think they would be banned.Look out for the sugar content as this is often misleading.High sugar plus high carbs = fattening.Don't forget the natural sugars that are present in the dried fruit they use in these cereals.

I'm suspicious of the ones with dried fruit because the sugar content in dried fruit can be quite high. On the whole I don't think they are as healthy as they make out.

Try Kashi GoLean Crunch, or Kashi Good Friends. Both are high in fiber and they taste great.

Chris,
I don't know what exactly is in it, but to me it seems that whatever it contains, it's still the healthiest option and better than carbs (bread), fat (sausage, ham) or pure sugar (nutella, jam).
