Depends on the prize amount. you know as well as anyone, your family is full of voltures. they may think they're going to get something that they have no right to. I can tell you 100% for sure, If i won anything over 50,000 I wouldn't tell a soul. Instead, I'd say I made a "sound investment" that paid off. I still wouldn't let them know how much I'm worth. If you tell your family you won 1,000,000 chances are all of them will hint at getting 10,000 each and then think you're a jerk for not following through. not only that, but that deadbeat family member who has terrible credit, they'll look to you for a loan and bone you out too.

Tricky one coz although very nice windfall (of which i'm incredibly jealous!) would'nt have thought it's a life changing sum.

Obviously depending on the size of your family, but I would imagine there probably isn't enough to spread around gifts to all the inlaws etc. and still have a nice healthy sum to do whatever you want to do.

So why would they need to know ?!!

I'd keep it to close family, maybe take everyone on a holiday or something if you feel guilty.

CONGRATULATIONS MY BEST FREIND>LOL.I would decide how i was going to split, share, the money first and get some advice on how best to maybe invest and find out what interest different banks will give you .you could treat someone each time your interest was due instead of giving it out of actuall winnings.just give eveyone a little treat until then.ENJOY.

NO. Keep it low key for a while. If you tell your family now, you'll suddenly have more family than you ever knew you had.
