Because it would prove he was only human, like the rest of us, and not the perfect demi-god of the Bible.

In the first case, Jesus had a son is not a fact. Jesus is a reverent Jew like any other before he got baptized abiding by the laws given by God. After he got baptized, he started on his earthly mission to preach the truth and good news about the Kingdom of God (Luke 2:52). Both historically as well as per the Bible there are no proofs or statements regarding the same. The commission of Jesus Christ as per his Heavenly Father Jehovah, is to bless all those who believe in him to be saved for an everlasting life. (John 3:16).
In this world, women and men are involved together in many activities, that does not mean all these men and women are having illegal affairs, it may be just a pure friendship or a brotherly and sisterly affection. When such things exist even today, we can never blame any immorality in the days of Christ era where people are very much God-fearing.

For the same reason the Kazansakas book and the Scorsese movie made out of it caused such a stir: Jesus is seen as a human being.
The early Church tried to worm itself out of this problem by proposing a Trinity, which much of the Christian world believes in but no one can claim to understand. I reckon you just had to be a third-century mystic.

It's simply a way for modern Liberal, Secular Atheists to take a stab at Christianity. Notice they always target Christianity and don't have the stones to question why Mu hammed had a 6 year old wife. That's because true Christians just ignore them and go on where it just takes one radical Muslim to sever a head. Do think for one minute that Cameron would be brave enough to even criticize, much less try to debunk Islam? No chance.

I think the part where he goes back to his home town and his own siblings thought he had taken leave of his senses had more drama. Nobody says, we knew this day was coming wth the kings and the gold and francinsense and all or kids did we ever tell you about how we had to run off to Egypt with King Herod killing all these kids...........????
Strange thing is the historian Josephus never mentions these somewhat significant events (the first born jewish boys being slaughtered) in his anitquities. Sorry to jack your thread.

FACT?
There are four eyewitness accounts of Jesus' life on earth and not one mentions a wife or child. If you were writing a biography of a person, wouldn't those things be as crucial as time of birth and death?

He was an outcast by everyone who didn't follow Him. I don't believe it would have been wrong for Christ to have kids if He was married but the Bible doesn't record Him having a wife or kids and Christ would've mentioned it if He did cause He wouldn't have been ashamed. If Jesus did have kids out of marriage then we need to close our bibles and throw them away cause they and Jesus are useless and we will all be going to hell.

I don't get it either, If in fact he did have a son and was married. This would not alter my faith at all. I believe that it could be possible and that it was kept a secret, for the safety of the child.

Would you imagine something as "DaVinci Code", that the heir of Jesus is still alive on earth, here physically, so important as Jesus was??

It's not that he had a son that is the drama its that we focus on something we can't prove that is the drama. How would you like it if after you died we suggested you were a Homosexual and had a lover?
