I've been dating a guy for 2 and a half months, he's a really great guy and we spend a lot of time together. We have a lot in common, and he pretty much fits the "list" of what I want in a partner....my question is, how soon is too soon to say I love you? We've already had that awkward pause on the telephone where its like, *insert I love you here* but it isn't said...but I don't want to freak him out. He is 37....so, he's older...I just don't want to chase him off.

You just say it when you feel you do....yo should never hold it back if you love someone. He prob feels the same, not wanting to scare you off too! But if he does not and you say it..then the worst that can happen is he doesnt say it and he will when hes ready. But more than likely hes doing what you are. But, I guess you never know. Like I said, if you know love someone and its not just lust anymore, than go for it...put your love out there!! If its meant to be, it will happen. Maybe you could wati for a perfect, romantic scene to make it extra special :) Like a fairy tale.....usually that stuff only happens in the movies, but anything is possible! Just do whatever makes you happy, lifes too short, so live it up with no regrets!! Good luck

Well, Love is a very strong word for sure. When me and my husband first starting dating, when I was 16, I didnt want to say the word tooo soon either, so what I did was made up a special saying for him and I. Ours was I need you. That was enough for him to understand that my feelings were strong for him, and he finally said I love you. I guess I feel more comfortable if the man says it first, because they are usually the ones that are not ready for a tight relationship.Sorry guys, just truth. Also, a big thing is communicate to him that you are getting strong feelings, because if you dont tell him, how is he suppose to know. You can go as far as to even just say to him "I think I love you" and see his reaction.

Two in a half months is not very long, it is a beginning. Never rush into anything, you have your whole life in front of you. Take it slow. When you are with someone for two or three months everything is nice. As time goes on things happen and you get to know who that person really is. Everydody puts their best foot forward in the beginning.

Just give it time. Those are some powerful words, and with him being 37 they are also scary.
After the words are said then what? There is always expectations with those words, really think hard before using them for the first time. It will happen when it happens, and most of the time it will be by accident.

Say it when you feel it and you're absolutely sure that you mean it. Close to three months is a good amount of time to get to know someone, so if you feel it go for it. Don't worry about who says it first, or if he doesn't say it back to you right away. It'll mean more when he says it because he feels it rather than feeling obligated to say that he loves you.

Go with the flow. You don't necessary have to say the words to prove that you mean it. Sometimes, actions speaks louder than words. When the time is right, you'll be able to say it out and feel it's the right time and words to say it.

At that age he has said the word "I LOVE YOU" so many times. Give him time because this time he wants to make sure that it is real.

maybe he feels the same way but neither of you will admit. i think its never too soon and you should say it already because if tomorro wont come youll regret this day
