small pink patches over the top of his torso/shoulder - not covered his skin totally but patches here and there. It looks similar to psoriasis but don't think that's what it is...he's been fairly stressed recently. Should we be worried?

Helpful answers would be appreciated rather than mindless 'go to the doctors'.
Thank you.

Is he taking some new medication or a lot of a particular medication? He may be having some type of allergic reaction to something new or something excessive. Even a new laundry soap or fabric softener?
Skin problems are always hard to decipher. I would stay away from creams and lotions that might irritate his skin even more.
Unless it gets much worse or he starts to have difficulty breathing he'll probably be ok but you might want to make a doctors' appointment for a few days away. If it clears up you can always cancel.

It sounds like stress related psoriasis. It doesn't alsways look the same every time.
It goes away after about 6 weeks but it can help to keep the skin moiserised with aqueas cream.

Might just be a reaction from detergent. Worry will add to stress. Have a chat with GP

Does he have inflammation of the throat? Are the pink patches any where else on his body?

you should have him see a doctor because without looking at it no one can tell what it is
it could be a number of things
but sounds like his skin may be peeling or something
put Aveeno on it

if it is just dry skin try to get him to use lotion. try aveeno oatmeal lotion. it is not scented and doesn't feel greasy. also he should see his doctor to make sure that the condition is not more serious.
