I've got a really bad cold at the moment and I'm coughing loads. I feel that my throat is really dry and sore but I don't want to cough because I know I am hurting my throat and potentially my vocal chords (which I need because I'm a singer). Do you have nay advice on how I can protect my vocal chords?

Talk as little as possible so you can rest your vocal cords. Drinking warm tea will help also but a cold drink can soothe also, as well as popsicles.Try some throat losenges too, to soothe your throat since coughing will only irritate your throat. Have you been taking an otc cough cyrup? I like Robitussin, as there are many formulas for coughs, congestion, etc. One would be just right for you. Feel better soon! :)

Drink some really strongly brewed chamomille tea with honey. Chamomile is soothing and prevents infection, and tea is a natural mild antibiotic. Together, they're perfect for healing and protecting your throat!

Stay away from dairy until you feel better - it'll make you produce more phlegm.

sure, because chilly air drys out your vocal cords with the purpose to keep them chance-free deliver a bottle of warm temperature water with you the position ever you bypass. chilly water isn't sturdy for you once you're about to sing.
