Happy Anniversary! As I'm sure you are aware, the traditional gift for a first wedding anniversary is paper. Though this sounds vague and dull I think there are plenty of ways to turn the traditional gift into a wonderful evening. Here are some ideas that I've thought about for my own first anniversary (even though I've got about a year until the wedding, doesn't hurt to think ahead ;-))
-You could leave paper notes throughout the house in scavenger-hunt style that give clues to hidden gifts or a romantic location.
-Try a romantic dinner or picnic using only paper plates, cups and napkins.
-Make a scrap book, photo album or collage of memories and things special to you
- Decorate the house with paper, learn some orgami, make/buy a bouquet of paper flowers
-Smaller gift ideas could include engraved paper weights or pens.
Though it's hard to theme a whole evening around paper I think you can get pretty creative with it! Hope some of these ideas sparked something in your mind! Congratulations on the anniversary.

well I read the answers and i think you got good ones so I would just say it is your special night and I would hate to get a paper gift in a few months when mine comes so make sure the gift is something he likes but remember as the years go by you might try to make the gift bigger every year so don't make it to big.
Or like we are doing don't do every year big with the gift just do the ones you think are special like the first one I think that is big and then every five years. We will celebrate everyone but only real big gifts for the first and every fifth year.
good luck and anything you do will be remembered if you take a picture

Keep it simple - make a list of how this past year has changed you and him (together). Write a poem, sip some champagne, put on your 1st wedding lingerie (the white one). Whatever you do, I'd say just keep it simple, but like you say make it unforgettable as your 1st wedding anniversary. Congratulations - you've surpassed many other people. I've heard most just continue living together and marriage ruins everything - yeah right . . .

From a man's point of view, I'd much prefer to receive a newly baked cake that says something like, "I'd say 'I DO' all over again, today and always" than to eat a defrosted one year old cake. There's something about eating one year old cake that is decidedly not romantic.

Think of your honeymoon. Maybe you can try and re-create something special from your honeymoon.
