no, all throughout europe for hundreds of years we had believed Jesus to be a white man because the catholic church believed white men to be superior to black men, so therefore it was an unimaginable thing at the time to think that Jesus would not have been a white man.

no he was portrayed as a white man since around the 1400's or so. Lets just say middle ages.

No it happens elsewhere. Most cultures that have Christians have adapted the iconography to their own culture. Many of the famous medieval icons were produced by Europeans that had never even seen people who were not white.

Jesus was Jewish, this is not really the point to his reign here on earth. He was an example of something to strive for, such as, integrity, chasity, truthfulness, sacredness of life, love one another. These are the things Christ wants us to focus on.

I think you'll find that it's important to white american christians that Jesus *not* be black.
They may admit that he wasn't white, but they will get upset at the mention of him being black. You can call him anything else and that's ok....but not black.
Isn't that odd?

He is Asian in Asian countries. Black in African countries. And white where the population is white. The truth is, he was a Hebrew. Dark, hairy and probably kind of short.
