Are you aware what the animals that meat comes from are dosed with medications? Are you aware that at minimum 70% of the ingredients in processed foods are genetically modified? Are you aware that low fat/no fat/skim milk should not be part of a healthy diet? Do you know that when they outlawed transfats in some cities, those were replaced with less healthy genetically modified vegetable oils?

I just want to find out what the mainstream consumer knows about the food they purchase and if that consumer even cares.

At the grocery store where I shop, the meats sold are all naturally raised. And you can really taste the difference. It is more expensive, but I feel the trade-off (less 'extra' money for me) is worth it. Same goes for fruit & vegetables. If you care about eating wholesome foods, then you minimize the amount of processed food you buy, and you research the brands you buy to see that they do not use GMO ingredients.

I, unfortunately, am one of the informed ones. If the average consumer knew what I knew about food, they would quit eating. I am a food researcher, and am too fully aware of this nonsense. The Food and Drug Administration must be run by a bunch of crackheads. They approve crushed cochlear beatles as red food color, the ingecting of scorpion venom into cabbages to make them resistant to pests, cross breeding wheat and corn into soybeans, rendering all three of those once nutritious grains useless for those who have allergies (like me) I was once able to enjoy a varied diet that included many things. Now, thanks to genetically modified foods, there is little I can eat. Its shocking what is happening in the food industry. Commercial milk is nutritionally void, and is dosed with synthetic vitamins derived from steroids, growth hormones, etc. Yet again, many people are allergic, simply due to the processing of it. I have to make absolutely everything homemade and homegrown. Its pathetic.

Frankly, and I'm not trying to be rude or ignorant, but I don't care. Nearest I figure, especially with environmental and lifestyle factors included in the mix, most people are living in a cesspool anyways. I know it may be blind trust, and so be it if it is, but government regulations will only allow so much of these noxious elements to be in our consumables or they would not be sitting on the grocery store shelves. If I don't see it, it doesn't bother me (why do you think I still eat fast food?!).
