Even Lennox Lewis said he hasnt fought anybody good. Hatton made a better showing against Urango than Cotto did against 36 yr old Uktay.

Cotto is very good however I've grown to dislike him. I hate the fact that he has never faced an opponent that is a comparable level. To me Cotto represents what is wrong with boxing. He is careful matched against opponents that have no business beating him. Yet all the while Cotto never complains or never calls out great fighters. Hatton had his promoter fired because he didn't want him to fight Tszyu. Cotto just goes along with it. So what does Cotto do for his big step up mega fight? He fights a guy who is coming off 2 losses in a row in Judah. I mean Judah was beat by Baldomir of all people.

So I would say Cotto is an excellent fighter but because he fights no hopers he is also overrated.

Miguel Cotto is one of the most respectable fighters in the world today. Cotto has fought a good quality of opposition in recent years. The combined record of the past 7 men he has fought is 190 wins, 8 losses an 1 draw. Imagine that, and those are against an elite crop of opposition.
Cotto has impressed the boxing critics lately, and they should be. Sure, he makes mistakes sometimes, but so do all the other boxers. In conclusion, no, Cotto isn't overrated at all. He's still young and there's still plenty of time for improvement. I believe that he is ready for Hatton, Mayweather, Mosley, and the others. I'm sure he will make each of those men go to war against him.

The answer to your question is No, Cotto is not overrated but it seems that you already have your mind made up regarding this matter so no matter what I or anyone else write that doesn't agree with you, you'll dismiss.

Cotto has room for improvement but what fighter doesn't. Cotto makes no excuses for a lousy performance like a lot of fighters seem to be doing lately. Another plus that Cotto has going for him is in this day and age that fighters run around screaming "I'm the best" and acting like a complete idiot, beating women and showing off his cars and "Bling Bling" and disrespecting his opponent every time a camera or microphone is within earshot. He is a gentleman and a credit to a sport that is on the ropes.

If you like the fighters that act like the above written then you'll never see the importance of a fighter of Miguel Cotto's caliber. Thanks for the question Asdf.

Lennox Lewis was KO'ed by Mike Tyson's sparring partner and Hasim. What does he no about beating top-flight fighters when he lost to two guys who weren't that good? Cotto keeps beating whoever is thrown at him, I don't think he's overrated at all.
