Not everyone likes vanilla ice cream.
That's the best way I know to describe the single most important advantage of pluralism. No one religion or philosophy appeals to every person. We come from a diversity of backgrounds and have different temperaments.
People who live without pluralism become limited in their thinking, as they become too reliant upon tradition. It's important for people to seek new ideas, new possibilities. That's how humanity grows. Every child faces culture shock on the first day of school, when she discovers that not every family is like hers. Some parents make less money; some more. Some have big screen TVs; some don't own a single television. Some like to go to the beach for vacation every year; some like to go hiking into the Grand Canyon, or explore caves, or go deep sea diving, or take a European tour, or explore Disneyland. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Dad, can we go to the Grand Canyon for vacation this year? Mom, why don't we go deep sea diving sometimes?
There is no advantage to not growing. That's called stagnation. Diversity allows us to consider possibilities that probably would never have occurred to us had we remained comfortably cocooned in our ignorance.

I don't see much advantage to living in a spiritually pluraistic society, because regardless of the differing beliefs, we still live in one reality, one world, one political network that holds the united states as a super power and sole watch dog, conscience, and instigator of the entire misbegotten world. So no, I don't see much advantage to it, because no matter what we believe, the truth settles in regardless.
What is a disadvantage of living in a spiritually pluralistic society? Loss of unity.
