My daughter is a week shy of 10 months. She's been pulling herself up and using objects for support, but not standing alone. This morning my wife called me at work and told me that she is falling backwards and acting clumsy.
She claims that her eyes are okay, and she can focus. She's not fussy, she's playing happily, but we're worried that she's much more clumsy than she was even yesterday afternoon.
She may be tired, and we're hoping she'll be better after her morning nap. We have an appointment with the pediatrician in a few day for a normal check-up. Do we need to be concerned and move up the appointment? Or should we just keep a close eye on her and let the doctor know about our concern when we see her?
Has anyone experienced this with their child? Is this normal?

she's probably just being clumsy.. we all have those days. Heep an eye out to see if she is bothering with her ears though. If she is getting an ear infection, that will throw off her centre of balance a bit.

clumsyness is natural...my son is 4 and still runs into things/knocks things over/falls etc....at 10 moths..it's really bad lol. Just keep her safe(away from steps etc) but let her exlplore and learn too...it never hurt anyone to bump their head a little to learn not to stand on the back of the sofa.
If it doesnt improve a little, i'd ask about neurological disorders...I heard that like 1 in 10,000 kids that are "clumsy" actually have a slight balance, or equilibrium problem.
Good luck! And remember to just let her live and learn..thats the only way to do it=)

10 month olds are extremely clumsy in general. However, since she's more clumsy than normal, I would suspect that she could be starting a cold or fighting one off. If she's got a buildup of fluids in her head, her balance could be off--especially if she has fluid in her ears. As long as she doesn't have a fever or get sick, I'd wait for your normal appointment. The baby didn't fall and hit her head or anything, did she? I'd check her head for bumps just to be safe. Chances are she's fine and she's just tired or fighting off some sort of infection.

I'm lost on one thing... who claims her eyes are fine and she can focus? Your wife wouldn't technically know if your daughters eyes are fine, unless she's trained in that sort of thing.
Anyway, I think it's probably fine. She could be tired, but she could be trying some more advanced tricks (she's used to pulling up, but the step between pulling up and letting go can look like sudden clumsiness until she gets it right).
Since you don't know if there actually is a problem, as long as she does seem to be seeing alright (a 10-month-old who is used to good vision and who suddenly loses it completely or partially will, first and foremost, scream in terror), and you can't think of any situation that would explain a head trauma (was she dropped on her head, did she drop something on her head, etc.), I'd just wait until her doctors appointment in a few days and bring it up to her doctor. If you notice other oddities (she stops trying to do the things she already knows how to do, she has a bump on her head, she starts vomiting, her eyes don't seem to focus, she runs a fever, she tugs on her ear, she has ear discharge, etc.), then call her doctor to rule out a head injury or nasty ear infection.

Babies of that age are notoriously clumsy, but if you are seeing that big of a difference in her then you should take her to the Dr NOW. There are so many things from serious to nothing that could cause a balance problem. Might be just an inner ear infection, but get it checked now.

She has found where the beer is hidden.
This is about normal for this age. You need to be more watchful of her. Sharp Table corners not good or really anything of a head bumper.
If, you feel there is reason for concern I would say take her in for a checkup. She could be low on sugar or something of a nutrition problem.
To myself, it not hurt to be a little cautious and ask the Doctor.

It doesn't sound uncommon, my daughter is still clumsy at 19 months LOL. But if she hit her head really hard or something, I would take her to the doctor just to ease my mind.
