It is important to realise that the bible is comprised of many books dating back to well before the alleged time of Christ. So many books were available that in the Middle Ages the Council of Nicea met to decide exactly which books should be included in the New Testament and which should not. Naturally they only included books which fitted their particular world view!
The books of the old testament which support slavery were actually written that way as slavery was common in those times.
Naturally, today's Christians discount (or cherry-pick) which parts of the bible they want to believe. But you should know that the bible was written by men and not God, to reflect what they wanted you to believe at that time.
In my opinion the wisest course these days is to ditch the whole thing and get on without it!!

Naw,it wasn't re-written,it was just used out of context. In that day ,if you conquered a land ,you made the people your slaves. Those days past and the(especially Dutch So. Africans ) used those ideas about slavery to subjegate the ignorant masses.Nothing in the Bible has been changed there is plenty of ancient manuscripts to back that up.It isn't even a question .
Can't blame a Holy Bible for the evil man does.

Lot's of people use true information to support wrong acts. Just like people use the truth that a fetus cannot support it's own life apart from the mother to justify abortion. While it's true that a fetus cannot live on it's own it doesn't make it "right" to kill an innocent unborn child for one's own convenience. Just because the Bible has historical accounts of slavery and people used that to justify enslaving other people doesn't mean that the Bible is not true.

"Alice in Wonderland" can be skillfully used to justify slavery if someone want to do so. So could "Curious George Rides a Bike" or just about any book. That is why if anyone makes any claim that the Bible says this or that, you should either ignore it or study it yourself with an open mind.
It is like the lady at the Burger King (before I wrote my complaint and they changed their policy) who said it was against FEDERAL law for me to have a Coke and Sprite mixed as my drink in a combo meal!
Challenge those who make false claims using the Bible or the Quran!

The Law is found in the Tanach (OT) and interpretation of the Law is found in the Talmud. Paul deemed the Law to be fulfilled by Jesus and no longer necessary; the Catholic Church banned the Talmud and burned every copy they could find.
Europeans could very easily have used Christianity as a tool for slavery, but the Law of the Tanach protects the peasants from slavery.

Well, the only way that the Bible could be used to justify slavery is if it was re-written or taken out of context.

That is one perspective--- but does it make sense?? There are some who believe that the books were removed from the bible ad other information in the bible distorted to enslave ano one not in the clergy. Christ himself said we could do "not only these, but greater works shall ye do" and when the leadersof the church realized this they altered the context to have it professed that ONLY members of the clergy had the power to enact the will of God. If we can all do as Jesus did, they would lose their power and influence and no longer be ncessary for the spiritual evolution of mankind ( they failed to realize that, as "men of God", their primary responsibility was to understand and teach the methodology to the masses to implement the Power of God for the benefit of ALL beings of the race of man )
There was just a show on TV about the Anti-christ, which is NOT a man but society in general. Anti means against, so it stands to reason that men perpetrate the coninuing insanity of choosing to expres their free will without divine guidance ( the "satan" protocol ) and thus the world is in a state of discord and turmoil.
i belong to a faith that professes and practices universal equality within the race of humankind ( which has much cultural diversity ) up to and including the equality that is SUPPOSED to be between men and women.
The Christ part of anti-chrit is a reference to the practices of Jesus, Mohammed, Zoroaster, Bhudda, Krishna, etc.as they were all messengers of The Most High and sent to us when we, as a race, were ready to accept their teachings. Too bad we didn't apply what they taught--- the world would be a far , far, far better place instead of being transformed from a paradise to the unstable and ever-eroding sphere of discord that it has become

Absolutely this is correct. Why? because if you knew the {REVOLUTION} of the word of God, then you would know that the Europeans were the first race to be introduced to raw slavery. That is why they decided to excommunicate other ancient books written by the first fathers and mothers of all ethnic societies to make themselves seem more noble and wise than other races. That is not to say that the HolyBible is not true. You may find that this piece of truth that i have just bestowed to you is infectious with the other part called "secrets" of the {TREEofKNOWLEDGEofGOOD} Now, son, understand the great birth otherwise known as {EVOL}

You need to go see the movie..."Amazing Grace"...It will resolve exactly what you are talking about...
It was a Christian who ended slavery in the British Colonies.
Just so you understand,.....The Scriptures talk about Christian slaves, those who converted to Christ while in the system of slavery....
It doesn't condone slavery ay all.....
You will find that Christianity is about personal responsibility no matter what your circumstances in life....
Even in a position as a slave a man has a responsibility as a Christian to be obedient to his master....just as one today would be obedient to an employer.

it ought to not be God's direct fault, hypothetically conversing, yet i don't keep in mind the Bible ever explicitly asserting that slavery could desire to be abolished. If God cared, you will think of he could have slipped that into the ten commandments. additionally, on an analogous time as we are on the "that replaced into then, it somewhat is now," line of protection, why does not that line look to artwork on different issues, like homosexuality, premarital intercourse, etc.?
