I am never going to completely believe something without hard proof. The best I can make is an assumption that it is true.

It all seems so improbable to me and there is no evidence for the existence of a father-like God or of people raising from the dead after being mangled beyond recognition.

The only reasons why I am considering Christianity is that I want it to be true and there is still a very small possibility that I might just be ignorant and it might be true.

Jesus said that if you have "faith as much as a mustard seed, you can move mountains".

...but will that mustard seed be enough to get me to see God and all the answers that can never be found in this life?

Gary, you are either more shizoprenic than I am or else very very very very lucky.

For me, even the beauty of creation is not enough proof.

Doubt is an emotion (it is often a form of fear) that comes and goes. It is different from stubborn "unbelief", which is an act of the will. It appears from the Bible that Jesus does not blame you for how you feel, because he himself knew what it was like to fear in Gethsemane.

James says that God will grow close to you if you grow close to him. And Moses & Jeremiah says that you will find God if you look for him with all your heart (Deuteronomy 4:29; Jeremiah 29:12-14), which I assume means that if you are willing to accept God as he is, without any reseverations or preconditions, then he will help you believe in him.

Keep praying & reading. You will be fine. God will find you,

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

You know, I could have written this exact same question less than a year ago. I felt the pull of God and wanted to believe but honestly didn’t think that I could.

A mustard seed may not seem like much, but a seed germinates with a little bit of care. The plant grows; the roots run deep and leaves stretch up toward the sun.

Yes, that is most definitely enough faith.

Ask God for guidance and you will get it. It may no be immediate but read the teachings of Christ and keep praying. He does respond to all who seek with and honest heart.

I understand how the beauty is not enough. Since I am trained in botany I know that much of the plant beauty around us, as well as so many of our tasty fruit and vegetables came from centuries of manipulation by man. They didn’t start out that way. That argument simply didn’t faze me. I wanted more.

I don’t think I REALLY believed until I felt God’s love. This was so beyond human feeling and I knew it was real.

I think that the fact that you are asking this question may mean that God is trying to pull you back to him. It could be to help prepare you for some event in your life. My advice is to pay attention.

Doubt is part of all of our lives. take comfort in the fact that God has loved and used documented doubters through the ages.

When people asked for a sign - dont you think they were doubting. Example: gideon - he loved to ask for signs (let the fleece be wet and the ground be dry if this is you and your will then the opposite the next night, etc)

Plant your mustard seed and keep comptemplaing. God loves a heart who seeks him. He made us in his image, so is our desire to explore and create. Logic is a part of this image, and with it comes questioning.

Of course the Bible is not the only proof of God's existence! Just open your eyes and take a look at creation all around you.....Do you think all this just happened?
The awesome beauty of Creation is a wonderful expression of God's love....yet some still choose to ignore it...

However, for those of us who know and talk to God daily we have experiential proof He exists....everything from answered prayers to peace of mind....you name it ; we have allowed His Holy Spirit to come into us....and we hear His voice daily AND see the wonderful results of His intervention in our lives.

You cannot intrude into that type of evidence however until you act on God's Word and let Him into your life through faith in Jesus Christ.
That type of experiential proof is reserve for those who put their trust in Christ

I feel it's better to believe than not. If you decide to attend a church , be sure it teaches what the bible really says, not a sermon. I love my Pastor, he teaches biblical principles and no Blind Faith. GOD BLESS

Good question. I believe that as long as your doubts do not cause you to reject your religion, you may be okay. Still, I would pray to God for some assistance.
