I give her a Denta bone to clean her teeth. I give her a new one when she runs out. Usually about every 4 days. When I say her breath is bad it is unbearable. I am afraid of periodontal disease, but her vet said her teeth are in good shape.

I saw something at my vet's office that just might work. It's natural for dogs not to like you putting things into their mouth, don't try to force it.
BreathaLyser is this product, I think it costs like $15. You put a Tbsp or 2 into their drinking water and it helps clean teeth and clear up bad breath. You could also try this website, www.dinovite.com they have a great supplement that works too.

Dont worry about brushing her teeth you need to start young to get them to tolerate it and there are natural ways that dogs brush their teeth that they actually enjoy. Rope toys are excellent and they clean a dogs teeth really well some even contain a tooth cleaning agent, also Nylabones, Greenies, Dentabones, and they sell dog treats for bad breath as well Breath Buster treats by Pedigree work pretty well. There is also a product called Slurp N Fresh or other similar stuff, you add it to their water and it works pretty good to help their breath. It is also a good idea to give your dog real cured bones from the pet store, just ask and they will tell you what type is best for your dogs size. Basically providing a variety of chew toys and edible chews will clean your dogs teeth naturally.. my dogs have great breath as far as dogs go but thats because they chew on all sorts of toys.. even plush toys clean their teeth, I have to wash my dogs squeaky ball alot because it gets all the crud off his teeth and mouth on it... but his teeth are nice and white! lol

with very bad breath i would be concerned about some type of serious problem in the mouth such as a serious infection. Have the dog checked out.
as for general bad breath, i had a dog that had breath you could gag on at 6 feet away. i changed her (and all my dogs) to a whole prey raw diet and the teeth are so much cleaner and healthier and i don't have to worry about brushing any more. for more info on this try this site. www.rawfed.com

Very bad breath can be a sign of physical ailment. try changing her diet and see if things change. If the bad breath is still there after a diet change ask your vet to do some further testing if the teeth and gums are not diseased.

there's a variety of products that you can try. There's various "tooth brushing" bones that may help with the problem, especially if you can't brush her teeth. Also, there are a few different treats that will freshen your dogs breath. A few different stores (Meijer's, World Market, and I think Petco) have dog breath mint type products. Hopefully one of those will help.

my sis inlaw's dog's breath was BAAAAAAAAAAAD!!! it smelled like rotting meat mixed with fish that has gone really bad. she recently took the dog for a teeth cleaning and found that there was an issue with a rotten tooth in the back. they pulled it out and her breath is 90% better. (other 10% is cause she has a thryoid issue).
take the dog in for a full dental exam. it's a bit pricey but atleast you can rule out any rotting teeth.
i've tried to do that little finger cap on my finger and gotten a few good bites from my pup. i've heard that people use gauze.

May be not her teeth at all it could be his diet try a different dog food
maybe a little more protein or veggies in it . If it is still noticeable it could be from infection in stomach or colon. See a vet If you take your dog to the vet check for tumors in the dogs ears, or sinuses

Try using a finger toothbrush - most dogs don't protest as much. Be sure you're being very gentle and go very slowly at first. Let her lick the toothpaste first if she wants. My dogs are very used to getting their teeth brushed and are totally fine about it, except for the last toothpaste I bought. I normally buy mint, but this one is something else and all 3 are always trying to pull away - I know it's not them, they just hate this toothpaste - maybe that could even be part of it. Persist, she'll get used to it.

I have heard that a great big bone is the best way to clean their teeth and all dogs love big bones or u can buy rawhide bones that clean their teeth and they lov them also.

I give my dog the Greenies treats. They help my dogs breath, he loves them and his teeth are in excellent condition. I have never brushed his teeth.
