I was a best man once, I made a joke about the brides rack and no-one laughed. Her mother spent the rest of the night giving me dirty looks and crying, what a day that was I tell ya.

Are you being serious here? Why on earth woulf you want your thumb to drop off anyway????

If you really HAVE wrapped it round your thumb your actually asking for more trouble than its worth!!!!! Your thumb will indeed go blue as you have cut off the circulation to that limb. However limbs dont just DROP OFF in a matter of days. If you dont remove it soon, i mean like right now then your thumb will become sore and painful. Your thumb will swell and your very likely to find your whole hand will swell. This is because your heart will be pumping faster to try and get blood to the resticted area. After a few days you will get an infection which can then spread to your blood aswel as other parts of your hand and other fingers.

This is a very stupid thing to ask and I hope yor not being serious.
I know someone with diabetes and hes an amputee due to getting gangrene in his toes. He has lost both of his legs and is in a wheelchair now.
It was not nice as the smell is horrible ,you should be thankfull that you have healthy limbs and do you realise thet you need your thumb to be able to fasten and unfasten buttons and unzip your flys of your trousers.
If you don't want to be best man you should have said no thankyou and then let someone who really would have loved the honour
totally agree with piggy53 its insulting to those who have lost limbs through illness or accidents through no fault of there own

You are so silly! I took care of a man with diabetes. He was going blind because of his diabetes (retinopathy) and could smell an odor and didnt know what was going on because he could not see his toes rotting off of his foot. He lived alone and developed gangrene in his foot. It was terrible
Then to make matters worse, he drove himself to the hospital in a big camper. I couldnt figure out how he got himself there. If you cant see your foot, how can you see to drive a camper as big as a delivery truck.
When I asked him to take his clothes off to put on a gown, I freaked out when I seen his foot and he had no idea. The memory of that odor still makes me gag.
I doubt your thumb will fall off with an elastic band. I think in all reality, it would come off quicker with a meat cleaver, but dont try it on your own. Its not for amateurs. Just kidding. Thanks for the laugh.

Chopping it off with something sharp would be a lot quicker and the blood loss would be greater so you would stand more chance of getting out of the wedding. If you've wound the laccy band up so tight, it will cut of the circulation to your thumb and it will therefore hardly bleed at all.

Not a good idea, why do you want it gone? My Dad was an amputee due to Diabetes at a young age and was in a wheelchair for many years, so i find this insulting if it's being done as a joke,

Can I ask a good question... Why are you thinking of self mutilating your body just 'cos you are going to be a best man at a wedding??? I'm sure you'd look much prettier with both of your thumbs!!! xxx

Ummmmmmmmmmmm it won't be gone and I doubt this will work. It will turn black if not getting cirulation but I doubt it will fall off by then. Also it will get pretty painful and people will notice that something is wrong.

Dip it in strong hydrocloric acid for a few hours - that'll do it.
