Failure in the eyes of others that is the key, why do they feel like this because others put them down so they pretend they are strong.
No it does not make them feel any better just adds more insecurity.
What they need is a helping hand to get over the obstacles that others put in there way.

Because pretending to be what you are not you can hide behind a persona then no-one will know how insecure you are feeling.Its like putting on a front.Confidence is the answer but some people lack the self esteem to be confidant with who they really are.Not their fault necessarily as there can be lots of factors as to why someone is insecure in the first place.

we try to be what those around us want us to be.
insecurity breeds insecurity and therefore we try to protect ourselves be pretending that we are something more than just the basic people we are.
intelligent people play down daft people play up that's the way of life...

lack of self awareness leads to delusional attitudes. Unless one can find oneself, one 'presents' an image of what one thinks one 'should' be, rather than that which is.
