Does your family always have an inkling that you are gay? Who are you most close to in your family? Approach the one that you trust the most in your family first and tell her/him first and then discuss how to tell your other family members about your lifestyle. There aren't any 'best time' to tell them so I think it's best that you asked your closest family members to gather around then you tell them. I know you are afraid but you are in love with someone then you really deserve to be happy. I feel that telling your family is the right thing to do rather than for them to find out from somebody else. I think your family would be happy for you too but please this is very sensitive to some who might not be able to take it so well at first so please don't feel sad if this happens but I think your family members would come around and accept you and your partner soon enough. Cheer up ok and be brave, it's always hard at the beginning but I believe with love, everything would be alright in the end.

From what you have said I get the feeling that you're not looking to simply inform your family, you're seeking their approval. If you just wanted to inform for the sake of sharing information, I don't think it would be worrying you this much.
If you're hoping for thier approval, then you need to re-examine your motives. The only person's approval that matters is your own. YOU are the only person you will have to be around your entire life. If you accept your lifestyle, does it matter if others do also?

Have you tried telling them? I think you should be honest, most parents even if the don't approve will stand by you with loving arms. Maybe they already suspect it. My family suspects that my cousin is gay, we are just waiting for him to tell everyone. He is 28 and we've always suspected, everyone still loves him, we just wish he would be honest.

Honesty is always best; just sit down and tell them. Be prepared; they may initially reject your lifestyle choice. Give them time; in the end, if they love you, they'll accept you.
