Talking to different people the general consensus seems to be they are useless.

Saying things like no your baby isn't teething its just their mouth getting ready for solids.

Etc...

It seems they just regurtitate info they are given by the goverment and aren't in touch with real life!

Mine is so annoying I wish I could ram my red book up her ****. She NEVER remembers my name, calls my daughter possum because she cant remember her name and drones on about the same useless pointless facts that I already know about and I need no help with. My new one is a saint. She is just so brilliant I hate having to leave her!!!!

I never had one(FLAT OUT REFUSED), but an aquaintance of mine had one for her newborn. For starters, the new mom was staying with a close friend of mine. I refuse to say "live" since she never helped out with anything and left for days on end then would show up and "live" there for x amount of weeks, then split again...Anyways, the nurse began to tell my friend that she needed to do this, do that and that her house had to be childproofed, etc. It was apparently my friend's responsibility to make sure the woman's older child stayed out of trouble when mama did not want to wake up and feed the older child. My friend told that nurse that covering the electrical outlets was more than enough and that she was not responsible for taking care of the older child. She also remarked "She can get her lazy a s s out of bed and take care of her own child!" While some people may see this as insensitive, she had a point. The new mama could leave whenever she wanted (and did a lot) and my friend should not have been expected to pick up her slack, as this nurse felt she should.

The CPS nurse was quite nice and useful. However I generally have no use for anyone in the medical profession and haven't seen anyone in the medical profession for my son since he was 2 months old. He is almost a year.

I will probably make a one year appointment, maybe, if I can find a doctor who is not a complete moron.

My last doctor: "well I didn't vaccinate my kids but you *HAVE TO* vaccinate yours (hers are like 6 and 8 years old) . You have to night wean (a 7 week old baby).

Yeah morons.

My health visitor was amazing and nothing was ever too much for her to do with advice on the kids not sleeping toilet training feeding etc she always had a book to lend you for any situation,my sister had the same one as me and she was always saying good things about her ,and she always remembered the children's names even when we met in the town i was sorry when she left .

do they exist?!!

my kids are older now but mine was pathetic, had no idea as had no kids herself... i also knew 2 people who applied for heath visitor training...one was a dippy silly childless women who didnt relate that well to people, the other was a mature, jolly, sensible, non judgemnetal, sympathetic mother herself who had recoverd from severe post natal depression and actually helped me enormously through a bout of deppression (that my health visitor ignored).... guess who got turned down.

my hubby left me when my kids were 6 months and 2 years, so i was on my own,one was crying through the night and she seriously suggested i put ihim in a pram and take him for a walk in the middle of the night, god only knows what she thought i should do with the toddler!

Mine was excellent. She helped me with my post natal depression, gave me excellent tips on how to deal with my daughter who cried constantly for the first 3 months of her life and talked through all options of vaccinations as my daughter was allergic to some.

Mine was OK, she answered any questions i had but she kept coming round so frequently it drove me mad, as the never gave you a time to when they were coming, i suppose this was because i was young and it was my first baby.

mine is lovely she helped me get a larger house, new school etc for my ill son and she visits regular to make sure hes doing well.i have 6 kids so i really dont need their advice but when i do shes there,i think my relationships good with her due to alot of time spent through my sick son.my other one before her though didnt give a monkeys and didnt even have kids herself which i think for them to give valuable advice they should have experience and not knowledge from a text book.if your not happy with yours change it hope this has helped.
