Be funny and honest. Don't go out of your way to be rude, but on the other hand don't be afraid to say a few things that most people would keep quiet about.
One girl managed to grab my attention and completely fascinate me by saying "God, what an awful shirt," and then carrying on as if she hadn't said anything at all and offering me a drink as part of a round she was getting in.
The artfulness in this approach lies in being nice, and if you do drop a bomshell like the shirt comment, don't for God's sake labour it by bringing it up later in the evening. That's just taking the p1$$ and most guys can't be bothered with that.

As long as you tell the truth and are straight with people you should be ok. use humour in your sacasm, I am not that good at it it seems to be an art to get right. The thing I am learning is not to worry what other people think of me or are saying about me. If people are straight and nasty they seem to be respected more, that is what I find anyway, you will have to practice, good luck

there is no nice way to be nasty, because most of the time honesty is perceived to be nasty(e.g."your need a make over").I would say remain honest and subtle in your approach at all times,take every opportunity to be smug about your honestly-"thats is nasty"-however, don't be afraid to counter your opponents retaliation.
