My chihuahuas are picky eaters and pretty much refuse every snack. So what are some good snacks I can get them? They do love the chicken jerky & beef jerky from Costco but that's about it.

My mother had a short hair and a long hair chihuahua and you are correct- they are picky eaters. My mother used to make "puppy stew" to which the dogs loved and also those jerky things in Target in a red can-don't recall the name.
I used to tell her to put whatever down on the floor and when they get hungry enough they'll eat! TOO MUCH PAMPERING BY THE DOG OWNER!!!!!! I'm sure the kennels and pet shops aren't feeding them anything fancy or for that matter-special! People feed them table scraps (which any veterinarian will tell you highly compromises the dogs health) to which produces a very finicky eater! They want the "good stuff" after they get a taste or two! All the scrambled egg stuff, meat off the bone, whatever- it's not good for dogs!

Buy some beef liver. You can give small bits of it raw, or you can cut it into bite sized pieces and bake it at 350 until the pieces dry out a bit.

Very healthy, all natural, and haven't met a dog yet that doesn't go nuts for them.

Never, never feed cooked bones. Raw bones are fine though. Cooked bones run a high risk of splintering and causing problems. Raw bones don't.

If they refuse snacks it's because they don't want them. The best thing you can do, for training purposes, is give them some of their dog food when they've done something good, as a reward.

Dogs don't need snacks. If you want to give them a treat, give them a few pieces of the kibble they usually eat.

Go to your local butcher and get femur bones. Boil them for an hour and remove any meat remaining. These are fantastic as the dogs love them and they wont splinter or stain the carpet. I have yet to meet a dog that wont go nuts for this.

There is a product out there called Greenies. They are great for the dogs, they are all natural and great for the teeth. My dog loves them and he's quite picky also.
