Elmo's Coloring Book is showing at a local arena where I live. My son is just over a year old. I am trying to decide if it would be worth taking him to this show. Will it be worth it? I am just afraid he may not really make the connection and may just be scared by the whole thing and we'd have to leave (and be out $75 and an hour's drive). Anyone ever take a one year old to a show like this? How did they do?
Thanks!

I took my son to see Dora when he was 14 months old. It didn't go over as well as I thought it would. He loves her but had a hard time sitting there watching it. We ended up having to leave during the half time intermission. I wish I would have waited until at least 2 years old or older.

I wouldn't do it. Those things are great for toddlers and preschoolers, but that's a lot to be out for a 1-year-old who wouldn't care if he saw Elmo on tv or on stage.

Generally, I agree that even if they don't remember it years later, if they enjoy it that one day, it's worth it. However, at that age, it's hard to say he'd even enjoy it while it's happening. He could be bored to tears, not have any clue about what he's watching, and/or resent having to sit in one seat through the whole show.

I'd wait, maybe it'll be touring again in a year or two, and he'd really enjoy it then.

I have two children. one is 11 and the other just turned 4. Our feeling on this subject is that your child will not remember going. I will explain our experience and you can then make a decision. About three years ago our son who is 11 said "Look mom there is a billboard for the Wizard of Oz on ice". My husband and I looked at him and said " Do you remember going there?" and he said "I went to that? I was asking to go now." We told him that he had went to see the Wizard of Oz when he was 3.... well, he didn't remember. He didn't remember the great seats we paid for, he didn't remember the coloring book we bought there or the photo with the lion and tin man that we had him poise for a photo with. We thought about it and thought about how many things we remembered ourselves from that age. We remember a few things but not everything. If you go, you will have fun watching it yourself, but for us we would wait until they are at an age that they can remember. You baby is probably just as happy sitting in a stroller while you walk around the neighborhood or just looking at your face.

Hope this helps.

I went as a 2 year old to the ones on ice. I did okay.

But I do think 1 is a bit too young, they just dont have that attention span, or really and interest in that kind of thing.

I think his too young to appreciate it is another thing. Secondly is he might scared to look at Elmo, since he only see it on TV.

Don't waste your money or your time....he won't enjoy it for more than aminute, and will never remember.....save your money for when he grows up and you have to take him places like that!!!
