Hi,
I have moved addresses and I have never had my own landline.
The property I have moved to has a working line but I need a telephone number. How can I get this?
Regards
Maria

You need to connect with a phone company (e.g. BT, Telewest). Once registered and re-connected you will be given a new number.

from your pc log onto www.bt.com and enter the section return to bt,it will go smoothly, just follow all instructions and answer all questions.it could be previous owner has not settled there last bill or asked for line to be disconnected, which is legal in the uk.i have moved 3 times and had the line disconnected each time so no rental charges are applied and new user pays from when the line is connected and i have taken my number with me each time again this is legal in the uk as long as the number remains in the same telephone exchange coverage.

Hi, call BT, here is the number to call : 0800 800 150, they are open 8am-8pm Monday -Saturday, If you have already got the line in it wont cost you anything to connect, they just come out to check the line & connect you there and then. Have you got the phone? if not book one with Bt when you call them

Try putting the name of the address of the person you are looking for and then see if the number comes up, there are web sites you can enter location

Phone BT or any other telephone service provider and they will help you to get your landline number.
And if you are going with BT then please ask them for bt home privacy where they give you free caller display service if you have a compatible caller display phone. its great if you want to know who rings you etc. and good thing is that its totally free of charge.

good luck.

Contact BT on 0800 800 150.
If you've not had service in your name before then you'll go through a credit check.....

Hope helps

simple way woudl be to connect a phone to that landline and call yoru cellphone - it shoudl display the number.

Also consider that in a lot of locations now it is illegal for the phone company to disconnect the phone line - they must leave it active for 911 calls.
