8/8 oz glasses per day is what every persons body requires to be in good balanced health. If you don't drink enough water or fluids in a given day you can become dehydrated. This can cause many health problems including heart rythym issues, constipation, blood pressure problems and much more. Water is a basic component of the whole body and must be maintained in every single cell for it to function. The reason water is preferred is because it is what is natural to the body. Water has no calories, sugars or fats and is better for you than soda pop, coffee, and even juices. These cannot replace water. If you force yourself to drink water you will become accustomed to it's taste and will soon prefer it. Also, when you first start to increase your water consumption, you will feel very full from the water and may have to use the bathroom more frequently, but this will subside shortly. Likely within the first week or so. Bottled waters are not necessarily better than tap but spring water is what I would recommend. Buy it in clear plastic bottles instead of the frosty kind of plastic because it's a healthier kind of plastic. People that drink water instead of soda pop weigh less, guaranteed!!!!

In ounces you are supposed to drink 8-8 ounce glasses of water per day. That's a total of 64 ounces.

My wife is starting a diet, where she is required to drink half her body weight in water.

You may not like water, but it's the best thing for you. I recently went back into the Martial Arts (in October) and modified my diet by simply eliminating soda (except in mixed alcoholic drinks) and eliminating sugar from my coffee and adding at least 120 ounces of water and I have lost 22 lbs.

8-8 ounces glasses or you can become dehydrated easily, depending on the weather, your lifestyle etc. Had a friend who almost never drank water. Ended up in hospital with serious kidney problems. Dr. said more water in your diet and he hasn't had a problem since. When you urinate look in the bowl the liquid should be real close to clear, to much yellow you need a little more water.Plus to much water can be just as harmful and you can get over-hydrated and have problems too.

Drink eight glasses of water, or half your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 100 pounds, drink 50 ounces of water in a day. Carry a water bottle with you. Especially if you don't like drinking it, you probably aren't giving yourself the chance. Carry a water bottle with you and you'll start to drink enough.

I have been told that you are supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day and that a glass is about 8 ouces so that's about 64 ounces. Water keeps you hydrated and if you don't drink enough water, you will retain fluid and your body will swell.

64 oz, and you can get that water from apples, watermelon, etc-- not just water. If you don't like the taste of water, I would suggest adding a flavour to it, such as crystal light, which is low in calories and will help you drink your water.

In the end, your body is 90% water. You NEED it to be healthy.

for the "average" person 64 ounces is recommended. athletes need substantially more water than that. for the most part the water intake will vary from person to person depending on body size, level of activity, time of year, etc.

I'm 240 lbs in single digit body fat, in the summer I can drink an easy 2 gallons.

The rule of thumb is 8 "glasses" a day.

However, there is a lot of water in fruit and vegetables. That counts. :)

The caffeine in coffee drives water from your body. That counts as a negative. :(

A recent study published in a peer-reviewed journal in the UK, shows that tea (with no milk) hydrates your body more quickly than plain water. It also contains antioxidants, which are good. :)

Water is essential to your body. It aids in removal of some toxins in your body. If the taste of water is an issue, filter your water first before you drink it. Also, when taking a shower, use a shower head filter. Your skin is the biggest organ on your body. Remember this: either filter the water or BE the filter.

You should drink 6 - 8 glasses of water a day. If you don't like water you can always flavour it with lemon/lime or Chrystal Light.
