I think its dumb because they fail to realize that if it wasn't for religion there would be no Jesus.

I can understand that because having a personal relationship with Jesus is about life, our life and we don't consider ourselves "religious". We're not repeating propaganda or trying to deflect bad PR...we know who we are in Jesus and we don't have to be classified by the church we attend.

For me pure religion is this: Taking care of widows and orphans, so I am very religious. For me Jesus is my church, it is not some building down the street.
No one with faith gives a crap about Atheistic PR and Propaganda. I hear Atheists say much dumber things quite frequently.

Jesus told Peter upon this rock I will build my church. The church of Jesus Christ existed then and it exists now today.
Most people who claim to have a relationship with Jesus, have a relationship with their verson of Jesus. They chase after a God of their own understanding, which is the understanding of the world and whose substance is that of an idol.

Being a Christian has nothing to do with religion. Religion is the practice of certain rituals of a belief. Jesus yelled at the religious leaders of his day, he didn't practice their religion. He was against the practice of religion. Believe you me, people that know me would call me anything but religious. By the by, religious is defined, as adhereing to religion which is defined as the expression of such belief in conduct and ritual. I do not follow rituals. They do not help you in the day to day function of your life as obedience to the Father on a moment by moment prayer can. I know you don't understand this, most religious people who say they are Christian are more lost about the issue than you are!

Religions are organized belief systems.
Having a spiritual relationship with Jesus does not require one
to be a member of a religion.
Who are any of us to judge anothers reasons or if they do/do not
have a spiritual (which is an inner personal experience) relationship.

What is one of the first things that Jesus did as a teacher of the Word of God? He taught in the synagogue and called the Chief Priests of Pharisees and Sadducees hypocrits. They had burdensome rules and regulations on the people and Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden light.

It makes me think they're being less than honest. Unless they dismiss the fundamental doctrines of Christianity they have to be religious.

It makes me think they need a dictionary. They aren't non-religious, they're non-denominational. Big difference.

No, I don't think it is dumb at all. I think they are spiritual people of Christian faith (they believe in Christ) who do not go to Church.
