I have a guy who I have had a relationship with for 6 years on and off. We started dating young and took time to experience life but we always get back together.
He is now in his stage of partying and drinking and going out and I no longer have that interest.
I love him. We have both done of fair share of dirt and hurting each other.
Is this normal?
He goes out,has tons of friends, meets girls. I used to but no longer do. I still have friends and I still go out every now and then.
I am ready to grow up and be in a commited relationship I THINK...
But I don't think he is. We love each other so much...I dont think I can see my life with out him in it. But I am not going to be happy with someone who parties all the time and hangs out with chicks.
Anyone ever had a similar relationship like this?
His mom told me a long time ago, give him time, he will straighten up.
I am thinking about letting him go completely - to show him he will miss me, but I am scared of losing him

well if he isnt ready to wise up and start acting mature then it might be best to move on and find someone who deserves you. or he might be one of those guys who have a problem with commitment. personally i would move on but then again if i loved the guy it would be hard to let go. talk to him first and see what he thinks. if he doesnt think the realtionship should be serious then you need to leave him.

Talk to him...tell him what you want out of the relationship! If he is not ready to give that to you, maybe you two should take a break from each other...it takes guys longer to mature and realize that their is more to life than drinking and partying. Give him some time to get it out of his system and if you two are ment to be together he will come back! I know that is a lot easier said than done...but it is the best thing to do...you don't want to waste your time waiting on a guy who doesn't want the same things you do!! Good Luck :)

What is life without a little risk? In order to run the true test of love, try life without him. In time he may realize that everything he is doing is both confusing and hurtful.. Otherwise you may both see what it is like to truly miss each other.

He won't know what he has until he's gone. You have stuck by him in the good and bad times. I'm pretty sure you were the one who was there when he came stumbling in the house and you took care of him. Best advice I can give you, is leave him alpne for awhile... he'll come back...

don't be afraid to let him go, especially if you're not into doing the drinking scene any longer-find a new relationship and let the new one grow-don't worry, you haven't met the right guy yet. as for his mom, she wants him to have a safety net. he needs to grow up and discover the true meaning of life.

You said your ready for a committed relationship... you think! If you are not for sure... it wont work. and when two people try to make a committment but both are not ready and willing to do what it takes to maintain that committment, it will not work. One or both will be miserable in the relationship.

leave him and find someone better, you don't need this crap. I know it is pointless telling you to leave but you this relationship is doomed. You boyfriend doesn't love but finds you convienent to have around, but u don't care because you need him and are not strong enough to let him go. Best of luck

Let him go. Maybe he will grow up. If so, good. If not, good.At least you won't be wasting your time.
