An "epic". by definition is a literary work in which the hero meets a tragic death in the end. It has a sad ending. Since Jesus resurrected, overcoming death, the telling of his story would not be considered an "epic".

It might be a "saga", which is story of historical importance, usually biographical.

But more properly, it is a "gospel", which is literature that combines the actions and teachings of a religious leader.
