Yesterday, my fiance and I were working on the fence in the backyard. It's my house and he has been living with me since September. After working all day on the fence, my fiance made a comment regarding compensation. He asked me how was he going to be compensated for the work he did on the fence. He is presently on Worker's Comp so he doesnt' have much money and can't afford much. I don't charge him rent and he has been helping with 2 smaller utilities of mine. I have to admit I am insulted with his comment. Should I be upset or am I being too harsh?

When a man says that. he usually means how he will be compensated in bed. Get the hint?

However, if my understanding is wrong, then he is Mr. Wrong.

It could be that since your fiance is not back to work and has little money he is frustrated and willing to do anything to get money so he can help you out more, but whether you think his comment was a little more then you could handle is up to you to talk to him about and let him know that he crossed the line a little and that is was not called for respectfully, and that you appreciate all his help, It can be frustrating when you don't havea job and no money, but whether you should be upset or not is your call.

Before you jump to your own conclusions about what he meant just ask him. He may not have meant anything by it at all however you're thinking the worse. Talk to him instead of assuming.

Maybe he was referring to a physical reward and not a monetary one. If it was financial, I would be upset as well.

Tell him you'll take it out of the three months rent that he is behind on.
