The Tetrahydrozoline found in some commercial eye drops can cause diarrhea but the effects are not as quick, or as horrific, as you see in the movies. Of course, few things in real life are. ;-)
However, it does happen in the food service industry: some customer acts like a rude jerk and a bit of Tetrahydrozoline is applied to their food. Everything already has so much salt on it. How would you taste it? Many hours later, they have an upset stomach and maybe diarrhea, but usually it may be just cramps.
More severe reactions can lead to seizures and coma.
Not all eye drops contain this ingredient leading some to mistakenly believe the entire thing is an urban legend. But an overdose is possible and it can have negative effects. What is an urban legend is that a drop or two in a glass of water leads to funny results at a dinner party.

No, it doesn't. It's an urban legend. I would say the most effective thing is raisin bran, apple juice and two doses of Ex-Lax. You should lose 3-5 pounds that way. Better free up your schedule.
