Five years ago when I lived at home and Mum would call up to my bedroom, "Dinner's ready" it would take me about 15 minutes to stop fartin' about with a game or whatever. Now in my own flat, if I heard Mum call "Dinner's ready", I'd be there in a nansecond. Sometimes you don't know you're born.

When you were at home Mom did the cooking for you. Know that you are on your own you miss Mom cooking. If your Mom is still alive, go see her and have dinner with her. She will probably fix that special meal for you. If for some reason she can not cook any more then take her out to supper at her favorite eating place. You both will enjoy the meal and will be glad you did this small thing for her.

Now that you live on your own, you've learned to appreciate what you have, and are receiving. When you live at home still, it's easy to overlook the simple things, like your mother making you dinner. Other things were more inportant at the time, so you became easily distracted. Now, that you live on your own, you're all about dropping what ever it is that you're doing to have dinner with mum.

What a great question...we take things so much for granted when we have them, but miss them when they're not there...Like Mums and Dads.

How about getting them round and cook them a meal...then say when they are snoozing in front of your telly..Dinners ready NOW!

EDIT: Isn't it Nice to know that you weren't frightened of your Mum when she called 'Dinners ready' and you took your time. Some kids would have dragged down the stairs by the scruff of the neck by their parents. Good parenting skills your mum and dad.

it's true, independance is hard for some people and the comforts of home will always be better than being home alone.
