Daddy makes it go and Mummy makes it stop

As with any question a young child will ask, keep it simple. As your child gets older, the questions will become more complex.

As for what makes a car go, simply tell them you put in the key and press down on the gas pedal. If they need more detail, they will ask. The simplest answer is usually all they need.

Just wait for "Where do babies come from?" Lol! That one is always interesting.

Good Luck!

if the five year old was bright he would say -internal combustion a process whereby fuel is delivered into the combustion chamber in a pre determined volume at a precise moment of time mixed with air and ignited by spark or high compression .if the child was not so bright he would say -i am not telling you and start crying

My 2 year old tells me, when I stop for gas, that we have to get gas to make the car go. That seems to work for him.
I agree w/ keeping it simple: gas, wheels, mommy or daddy (or whoevers driving).
