I love essays! What's the topic?....
Whatever the topic, start with brainstorming about that topic...Then figure out what is required eg. is it a question you need to answer like what, where, when, how, why? or is it explorative like describe/illustrate/demonstrate or is it comparative/argumentative like the positives and negatives of the topic.
Once you've figured this out, you will then write a plan of 'attack' if you will as to how you're going to write your essay. eg. for argumentative/comparative, start with identifying what the topic is, then what the purpose of the essay is, then what you will prove or what view you will conclude with. This is called your 'opening statement'. It should only take a paragraph, two at the most, but it really depends on how long your essay is required to be.
Anyway, in the 'body' of your essay, you should separate the topics/views/aspects of your topic in different/separate paragraphs and as much as possible, in some form of order so that it is easier to ease into the conclusion/summation of your essay.
Then in the conclusion/summation of your essay, recap in summarised version

The most successful writing is done about a subject the writer feels passionate about. Good Luck.

Start soon enough that you can put it aside for a day and then come back to revise. Revision is a good thing. Don't pass in a rough draft!
