It's easy enough to stop - people should know by now that it's a waste of time and money entering, so they SHOULDN'T DO IT! That will give the TV companies something to think about! Once they offer a prize of (say) £20,000 and only one person enters, where do they get the money from to pay that ONE and only entrant - the message will soon sink in!

Most of them cost money to enter but all the ones I've seen also allow you to go online and play for free.

We live in a free country, why are people like you so obsessed with banning everything?

The odds of winning a competition like this are pretty small, but so what? No one is forcing you to play, if you don't want to participate, don't pick up the phone.

Some people enjoy this kind of thing, so who are you or people like you to demand that it be banned. As long as the competition is fair and they genuinely award a prize, what harm is there in it?

If you are going to argue that people get hooked on it or waste money, you could use the same logic to ban the lottery, all gambling of any kind, fast cars, tobacco, alcohol, tobacco products, prescription painkillers, porn, video games, the Internet, TV, movies, collectible items, books, fast food, etc.

Sorry, but I don't want to live in a nanny state where the government steps in and bans everything 'for my protection.' As long as the game is fair, I have no problem with it.

I would say A Plain and Simple YES! The TV Company just wants quick and easy money, that is why there are so many compertitions between the shows or at the end of the shows!

Yes, they are a scam, they say you can enter for free online in the tiny tiny small print but i bet its fixed so people entering that way never win. I think ITV have pulled all theirs after the Richard & Judy fiasco

The people who run these competitions rely on stupid people phoning up. If these stupid people stopped phoning up then the so called competitions would die.

I think they should, who needs to call into a show with no 'results' at the end of it all?
