One, don't listen to your friends. Unless your body fat is less than 13% you are not losing too much weight. If you've got a pot belly, chances are that is not the case.
Two, keep up with whatever your doing to lose weight, but start working in more "core" body workouts. These are workouts that target you stomach and back. You can not "target" areas to lose weight, but you can tone them. Chances are some of you "pot belly" is a result of your stomach and other inerds pushing out your belly. A toned stomach will resist that.

Interstitial fat is the hardest to get rid of. Thats the fat that sits around the internal organs in the belly -- pot belly.
The way I lost mine was to finally look at my diet. Exercise as normal. You don't need to do anything special just to target that area but look to your diet.
Nothing but vege's ( a good assortment every day) and red meat for protein and fruit. No candies, no soft drinks, no beer, no snacks. Nothing but vege's red meat, fruit and water.
Sounds boring, I know but the only thing you have to lose is fat.

Keep doing what you are doing, the pot belly is fat and it sounds like you are losing fat, doing some ab work in addition to your workouts will help to tighten the underlying muscles and may help also.
