Hi, my mum swears by olive oil and milk baths. I had eczema a few years back and it cleaned it up a treat. I usually use a pint of milk and half a cup of olive oil for a full bath. Another good one is porridge oats. Use an old pair of tights and fill one foot with oats, knot and throw in warm bath. You can actually use it to wash your skin.
This might sound a bit strange, but don't knock it till you've tried it. Plus all ingredients are natural, no chemical substances.
Good luck on your quest for softer skin.

I'm often complimented on my complexion, as was my mother and my aunt (her sister). To my knowledge, neither of them had a beauty routine and didn't use a battery of products. Mam was known to have Oil of Ulay (as it was then) around but she didn't use it every day.
As for me, I'm 41 and look remarkably similar to the way I looked when I was 21. I refuse to use any lotions, potions and gunk. I never wear makeup - don't need it, I have infernally rosy cheeks (which hasn't helped these past couple of weeks because I've had the flu but no-one's believed me because I look so well) and a near perfect peaches and cream complexion. In fact, the stuff feels heavy on my face.
My theory is that once you start overloading your face with gunk, you have to keep on doing it and that is what starts the wrinkles off. Just plain soap and water is enough to keep the spots at bay (something I've never had, even as a teenager)

You need to exfoliate before you shower. This will make your skin amazingly soft and then you will only need a small amount of moisturiser.
Try the Sanctuary Spa salt scrubs - they are amazing. Rub the scrub all over your body before you turn on the shower (make sure you stand in the shower while doing it as the scrub will go all over) and then shower off. The oils will penetrate your skin leaving it silky smooth. Just be careful as it also makes the floor slippy too in the shower.

Make sure you are taking in enough water - at least two litres per day, that you are getting enough essential fatty acids from oily fish etc and exfoliate regularly. I use a scrub twice a week made of a tablespoon of salt and olive oil which I rub over my entire body and then shower off and I dry brush each day before I shower. I never use any moisturiser.

I always find my skin is softer and smoother after exfoliating. If your skin is sensitive, buy one designed for sensitive skin. St Ives do a great apricot one for about £3-£4. Then use The Body Shop body butter (about a tenner for a HUGE pot that lasts ages!)
- they do it in flavours like Mango/Coconut etc.. Your skin will feel so smooth and smell delish! Body Shop body butter is a fave of Victoria Beckham and JLo!

A scrub will work good. Try a sugar scrub to slough off the dead skin cells that causes dryness. Mix sugar and any soap u have at home or buy one in drugstores. Then instead of using regular lotion use body butter since its more thicker, it moisturizes way better than lotion.

Lotions and creams are a good way to soften the face, look for lotions w/ vitamins in them for a not-so-sticky solution. If u r using any kind of acne cream or acne cleanser, make sure it is not drying the face, a dry face often leads to a itchy and definitely not soft face...Good luck!

it might sound weird but liquid parrafin is fantastic for the skin! You can buy it any chemist - just apply it with cotton wool and I promise you within a week you wont know yourself your skin will be so divine!! It does leave your face a bit shiney - so you're best to apply it about a half hour before you go to bed. I know it sounds like a weird thing to put on your face but its totaly safe with fantatic results!
