At your level, one of the things you can do is to visit this site and make the best use of Yahoo! Answers.
A language involves 4 types of linguistic activities, ie, speaking, listening, writing and reading.
So if you use this site to the full, you can read the comments and opinions of other native speakers of English in many kinds of fields. That gives you an excellent opportunity of reading authentic English including some jargon and slang. At the same time, by putting considerable numbers of questions and answers, you can improve both your writing and "speaking" abilities. As for listening, you may have a lot of access to the various audio materials on the Internet.

Good luck!

Basically, the normal (Usual) structure of sentences in English goes like this:
Subject----Verb-----Object
Example:
I did my homework. (And this is called "Active form")
Sometimes the subject (The one who did the verb) is unknown or not important to be known, and the sentence in this case is in passive form:
Object----Verb to be------Verb (In past participle)
Example:
The homework was done (You can add: by me)
If you have noticed the "Verb to be" used differs according to the tense used in the sentence:
- I ate the apples (Past tense, and "apples" is plural) so the sentence in passive form becomes:
-The apples WERE eaten.
Another example:
I'm eating the apples. (Present continuous, "apples" is plural) so the sentence in passive form becomes:
- The apples ARE BEING eaten (You must add being).

These two are the most ones used to build a sentence. To make your vocabulary better, I suggest you read more books, newspapers, watch English programs and movies and so on. This will give you more knowledge about the language.

the basic sentence structure is the subject-verb-object.
the dog (subject) climbs (verb) a tree.(object)
from that form one could start to make complex questions. no matter how complex a sentence is,it always fall on the SVO structure. try searching for it over the net as i don't have the book that would help you.
