A colostomy is a surgical procedure that involves connecting a part of the colon onto the anterior abdominal wall, leaving the patient with an opening on the abdomen called a stoma. This opening is formed from the end of the large intestine drawn out through the incision and sutured to the skin. After a colostomy, feces leave the patient's body through the stoma, and collect in a pouch attached to the patient's abdomen which is changed when necessary.
Please see the web pages for more details on Colostomy.

Colonoscopy procedure? A tube with a camera is inserted via the rectum to check for polyps, ulcerations, infections, abnormal growths all things that could be causing the patient symptoms such as pain. Procedure is painless and patient administered with general anesthetic. Patient must fast for 24 hrs and drink a liquid which clears out your intestinal tract(tastes unpleasant). I would ask for a pre med calmative such as benzodiazipine temazepam just to relax as hospitals tend to cause anxiety. Procedure is quite common and if they see anything abnormal they can usually cut it out on the spot. Sounds pretty horrible but it really isn't that bad. Hope it all goes well for you or whomever you're asking for.
