Interesting, how do you feel about the FACT that the National Guard has been Deployed to every war in US History?

First ashore at Omaha beach on D-Day; Able company, 116th infantry Virginia NG

US Unit with Most days in Combat in WW2; 32nd Infantry division from Wisconsin with 650+ days fighting the Japanese on New Guinea & the Phillipines

US Unit with secondmost # of days in Combat in WW2; 34th Infantry division from Minnesota with 600+ days fighting the Italians , & Germans in North Africa, Italy

US Unit with most Battlerings on its colors; 69th Infantry regiment from NYC

Delta company, 151st Infantry from Indiana Volunteered for Vietnam, served 1 year as LRRP's(Long Range Recon Patrol) in the Central Highlands

US Unit thought to be in the top three of the AEF; 42nd Rainbow division(Made from Guard units across the USA), 1st ID, 2nd ID

No where on an Enlistment contract, Mission Statement, TO/&E, does it state the National Guard is for Hurricanes, Snowstorms, Floods, Fires.

That they perform these missions as well is admirable, but the reason de etre is to fight wars.

Nah..

National Guard works for me. I'm not expecting a pay check from France anytime soon.

;-)

I get back from this deployment in the fall and will be on the Southern Border next summer.

Well, for your uneducated mind.....

The oath of enlistment for the National Guard.

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of (STATE NAME)

against all enemies, foreign and domestic;

that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (STATE NAME) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God.
