They need to stop all this non-sense. If teachers get to check their mail why can't we? I mean gosh we have lifes too.

There are probably email FILTERS in place as they should be.
I believe that if there were something that you really needed to know about, from your family or whoever, then you would hear through the school office. Why would they email you over placing a call to the office?
School is for learning,.. The teachers are grown-ups and tend not to waste time w/ email, Internet, etc. as kids often, (and naturally) do. Also: the school uses email to communicate with their teachers; it's part of their daily WORK. This is why teachers can use email,... even when students are restricted.
You'll understand this one day.

Firstly - if something really bad was going on at home, you probably wouldnt be at school.
Secondly - Why do you have a cell phone? If your parents really need you then they will find a way to contact you
Thirdly - kids have a low enough attention span as it is you honestly think if you had access to check your e-mails at school you wouldnt just sit there e-mailing each other all day?
Go back to studying!

Yes, and there were many years when the internet and cellphones didn't exist and we got by just fine. Email is a distraction at school and if you were allowed access at school the benefits would be far outweighed by that. They know where you are and you can be contacted very fast if need be. This is not an excuse to be used in gaining favor for you being able to email at school and to tell your mates how bored you are when you are on the computers.

You get out of school just exactly what you put into it.
If you're main priority at school is to check you're personal mail than that speaks for itself.
You are not in a position to even begin to put yourself on the same level as you're teachers. That's why they are you're teachers, because they have been there, done that. You my dear have not.

They still have those antiques called phones. If there were something going on that you needed to be informed of, you would probably get a note to report to the office.
Odds are it wouldn't be posted on your email..
