When the terrorists are defeated. Most of the casualties in Iraq are Iraqi civilians who are being killed by other Iraqis or by Arab terrorists who are trying to destabilise the country so that they can take over.

As most of the bombings and murders are aimed at Iraqis who have no direct involvement with the UN-backed forces in Iraq there is no reason to suppose that the death rate will significantly reduce if US and other forces are wihdrawn; in fact quite the opposite, it is more likely that Iraq will descend into a full scale sunni vesus shia civil war.

The killing will never stop in Iraq, or any mid east country until they are all dead. The mid east has always been killing each other since the start of civilization in the Mesopotamia area (Current day Iraq) since roughly 3000bc... The area is not a good area.. they have been being killed by floods caused by Euphrates and Tigris Rivers since they started cities there, they have been being invaded and conquered since then as well. There will never be peace in the "Mid East" until they are all dead.

When the good people of Iraq step up and turn the bad guys in.

It's working in some parts of Iraq. We're still working others.

It may be that they'll continue killing each other along sectarian lines, or simply for political reasons as the Palestinians do. I do think it will decrease, though, over the next year or so, as the government takes control. We in the US tend to forget they've only been in business a year.

Unfortunately the killing wont stop. Even when the U.S. decides to redeploy home. There still will be acts of terrorism. Thats what these people know. Just like Isreal it will never end.

When the politicians in the USA get a backbone, stop worrying about their political powers and fight this war to win, we need to send ten's of thousands more troops to make a dent in this war, otherwise we are going to lose, embolden the mentality of the extremists/this sect in the middle east who already knocked off Russia and will knock us off too if we don't wise up. Either realize the importance of this war to our future, or retreat and face suicide bombers in the streets of america. Then I pray these politicans get ejected from office, and hide their faces for the rest of their lives.

When the "freedom fighters" [who fight *against* freedom] decide that peaceful coexistance is better than blowing up innocent civilians in schools, markets and mosques.

When the Shiites decide that death squads are not the answer.

When all Iraqis realize that murder doesn't solve anything.

Or else, when the Sunnis are wiped out, and any aspiring warlord is eliminated.

Never. They've been killing each other for hundreds of years, and even if the US left today, they will be still killing each other for hundreds to come.
