In the UK, the cost of loft conversions has gone up, so much so that if you spent £15k on one, I would class you lucky if your house gained £15k in value.

You are looking at £10k and up.

I Just got a quote from a loft conversion expert. We have about 50 sqm loft space and he's quoted £27k including plumbing, electrical points, insulation, plasterboards all ready for painting.

In UK, everything is expensive...so if you're in another part of the world, I'm sure it will be much much cheaper!

The biggest portion of the costs would be strenghtening the floor of the loftspace, putting in access and such. The construction method used for your roof will also affect the price that you will pay.

Suggest that you telephone a builder local to you and ask them to look and give a guide figure. Planning permissions will also be involved

To answer this question accurately you would need measurements. How many walls are you going to need to put in? etc.. Prices on all materials vary depending on where you are. I can tell you that on average, drywall and plastering is going to cost about $1.25 per square foot. Paint costs about $16-$25 per gallon. I'm not sure about lumber but it's not too expensive. If you are capable of doing any of it yourself, you are gonna save a good deal of money.
