My boyfriend is 23, 24 in june. He'd like to take out his first loan (as a senior), to pay off a high interest credit debt. His parents are very unlikely to give out their information, they also wouldn't advise him to take out a loan because it's "trouble".

With fafsa, unfortunately, I think you have to provide parent info until your 25.

If he was born before, I believe, 1984 he will need to have his parents information on it. He may qualify for a private loan without them but the rates will not be as good. On another note you should not use student loans to pay off credit cards they are not ment for that and if you have already dug yourself into debt chances are you will do it again.

if he has good enough credit then no, but he may need someone to co-sign, especially if he is not working full time at a decent job
