Which people use Vista?? and why is It slower than XP by a long way... look at the results
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2007/01/30/xp-vs-vista-uk/
Coded into Vista is DRM (digital Rights Management) and that basicly means any MP3s or Movies on your PC are now under the control of Microsoft and if they decide to stop you watching them, they can with out warning. It not just MP3s tho its any work or files on your PC.
So my question is Why do people PAY good money to lose there rights? People should be allowed to do with their computer as they wish, without the fear of losing/changing DATA that microsoft has deemed unsuitable. It reminds me of the Book/Film I-Robot were the robots decide what is best for the humans.
Also
Why dont people use linux (freespire, Ubuntu, red hat ect.) there free and most windows programs work with the help of WINE. Some linux OSs can use DirectX 9 as well. Plus linux is almost VIRUS FREE.
I hope people wake up and smell the coffee before its too late.

Because people are stupid. Humans are underwriting to the theory of 80/20. 80% of us are faulty when it comes to THINKING. Switching to Linux means you'll have to do a bit of thinking when learning its ways. 80% of PC users are not very bright, to say the least. It was a pain in the *** for many of them to learn some bits of windows. So it is obvious that windows will catch with those 80%. To those 80% add some busy folk like myself, some lazy people like some dudes I know, and you've got an answer.
Then here goes the surprise: those folks don't even imagine how many problems they will have with Vista. They'll have to do some learning afresh :) And some bitter leassons as well when it comes to that s***ty DRM.
One thing I am sure of: I am no vista guy! Thanks but no thanks! When XP becomes obsolete I am switching to Linux and let them suck my toes! :)

Most people buy a computer with software on it. So computer vendors are not picking Linux.
Most computer education is WIndows, not Linux. So people won't know how to use it.
Most computer support is Windows, not Linux. So people can't get help.
Most people share data, using Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, Access, Power Point. Open source apps like Open Office are HALF BAKED when compared to the rich and multi-featured Microsoft products. When I show Open Office to people for the first time, they almost always say "That's LAME".
Linux sounds like FREE. Linux sounds like Open. But it really isn't. When people do not know how to make changes, what good is OPEN? When people can't make the install disk from downloading the ISO, they must hire someone else... that isn't FREE. When people need help, they must look for someone that knows... and that person isn't FREE. You see, in many cases, Linux will COST much more than Windows, because EVERYONE ELSE already knows Windows and you can get help for FREE.
You see, if Virus and Spyware free meant anything at all, everyone would have switch to MAC by now.
Yes, Vista is SLOW as a DOG. But with a fast Dual Core machine and 2GB of RAM; people will embrase it. When people buy a computer that only has 512MB of RAM, they will Expand soon. They MUST.
But when Vista gets SLAMMED with viruses and spyware, or if Microsoft can't make some quality changes soon... Poor Vista sales will HURT.
On the short term, DUMP your Microsoft stock holdings. But once Microsoft turns that corner on Quality, thier 90% market share of software systems and applications will return. So put in a future BUY.
My regret is the ecological disaster of old computers. Anything slower than 1GHz with less than 1GB of RAM will be TRASHED. You see, 3 year old computers have 4 more years of good life. These computers should be collected together and upgraded to a Windows 2000 or Linux operating system. Not a bloated Windows XP or Windows Vista.
Hey, I was in Wal-Mart the other day. I was that they were selling an eMachine with Flat Panel LCD monitor with Windows Vista for $480. Yes, it only had 512MB of RAM, and that can be fixed with a hundred bucks of MORE RAM.
Rights? You seem to be speaking of STEALING rights. That is not a Right! That's a WRONG.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Most people still believe that Linux is too geeky for them. Not true any more.
They also believe that because 95% of computer users run Windows they have to as well. It's the applications, not the OS that must be compatible, Open Office comes to mind.
They also believe Mac's are more expensive than PCs, NOT, if you include the cost of all the extra software. OS X is like Windows Media Center Edition.
I use Windows, Linux and OS X every day doing tech support and Linux / OS X (it's Linux, too) is far better than Windows for all the reasons you stated and many, many more.
IMHO, if people would only try Kubuntu for a week, on an old PC, they would switch in a blink!

It seems you already made up your mind and this "question" is rather irrelevant.
It may come as a shock to you, but most people don't know that much about computers, and most of those don't really want to. Vista/XP offers an easy path to a lot of computing tasks - whereas Linux makes those simple tasks daunting.
Vista may be a little heavier on current hardware than XP, but the advantages for most people are much more appealing. Geeks like yourself are a ridiculous minority compared to the general computing population. Keep that in mind next time you type in some command into your Linux console.

You see, Marketing is a form of product education.
NOBODY is spending billions of dollars to market Linux. There is NO WAY that Linux could beat Windows because of that marketing edge.
Take a look at the public company Red Hat. When they went public, they simply wasted the public funding. They did not launch the multi-billion dollar campaign to beat Microsoft. They only wanted THE MONEY to pay huge salaries.
You must believe me when I tell you that Microsoft Windows Live will eventually BEAT Google. You see, Google does not buy televison advertisement like Windows Live does. You might not think so today, but Google is a short spike on the market. Every day, they fail to grow; but instead lose more to Microsoft.
Embrace the horror.
