tell him in person... he deserves that after a full year of dating.
say "i'm sorry, but I don't want to date you anymore. it was fun, but now I want to move on to different things. Good luck, and thank you!"
Make it about you, not about him. But make it brief, don't let him argue, and don't reveal too many unecessary details.

Tell him honestly what you've got on your mind and in your heart about your relationship with him. Come to a mutual understanding that you two are no longer compatible. If he feels the same as you, he'll accept the break-up more openly. But he disagrees, sit down and listen attentively to what he has got to say. If you don't love him in the first place, why would you want to go into a relationship with him? Now that you don't love him any longer, find out the reasons why. Isn't true love meant to last forever?

It is impossible not to hurt his feelings. Your choice now is to how to avoid hurting them to much. The truth is that tip toeing around the subject will make it more painful.
Be sharp, honest, brief and leave him with no illusion that he has a chance. That way he will be hurt but start healing straight away. If he starts false hope he will live in pain for way to long.

Tell him the same way you would want to be told. As you know, no one likes to get hurt, so I suggest that you think of a way that you know wont hurt him as much as it will already hurt. Tell him that not to think of it as a break up. Tell him to think of it as a benefit for him. Because its not fair to him. Tell him that you dont want him living a lie, and that he deserves to find someone who will love him back the way he deserves.

Don't tell him in person. That would be embarrassing for him. He may feel awkward and uncomfortable. Instead, talk about it over the phone, or email him, or instant message with him.
Tell him you're not compatible in a blend way and say that you'll always care about him.

You say exactly that to him. I know it's not easy but you have to tell him how you feel and why so he knows and there are no questions asked. You will get through it if know what you're gonna say before you say it and then you can move on and live a good life.

just be honest with him and talk to him patiently and ask him to listen to whatever you have to say and give him a chance to explain himself too and then if you're still firm on your decision, then let him know and be firm about it..but most importantly do it fast...dont drag it on anymore coz its not going to do the both of u any good.

If he cares for you there is no easy way to tell him. Just be honest and up front about it. Most guys can handle it in the long run.

then tell him just that. if you don't love him, then leave, don't worry about his feelings. You have to move on, don't let this man keep you from living and loving someone else. Good Luck.
