"Real Sex" on HBO said that jerkin' it first thing in the morning is more effective than 3 cups of coffee. Based on trial and error, I believe that to be true.
You could also give the "ritalin alarm clock" a try. Wake up an hour or so before you have to, do a decent sized line and fall back asleep. When its time to wake up, you'll be energized, alert, and feel like you did it under your own free will.

As tedious as it sounds, exercise is the best way to truly get your body up and awake; it gets your blood and oxygen flowing.
It also helps to make sure you're sleeping on a good mattress with a good pillow. Those two things alone can make or break the quality of sleep you get.
It's also key to make sure you go to bed in a relaxed state. If your body isn't relaxed when you go to bed, you'll ultimately keep yourself up because your mind and body aren't ready to settle down. Cut your caffeine intake a minimum of 1 hour before bed. Also make sure to keep the lighting around you dim and the sounds around you quiet or at least a soft tone.

If you are getting a full 8 hrs sleep & are still exhausted then you may need to see your doctor or maybe check in to a sleep center for a sleep study. Shower usually works for me. I also get up earlier so I have 30 minutes to "wake up" without feeling rushed.

Go to bed earlier? Excercise during the day. It will make you tired enough to fall asleep at night and get up better in the morning. But I hate mornings and I have been sick so I dont get up til 10. Good luck to you.
