you did not understand that sort of prejudices when you were young , but when you get older , you started noticing your parents turned off the TV every time when they saw black people on the TV , stopped you seeing your asian friends and not letting you to bring color friends to the house , etc.

You're from the States aren't you (the way you spelt color). Didn't you think the burning crosses in the yard were a bit weird. What about the people in the strange white robes with pointy hats? Did you think they were ghosts?

Seriously, you can't change who your parents are. As long as you are big & wise enough to know it's wring then that'sthe main thing. Maybe one day they'll come round & realise that they are wrong.

Very sad, you have some ignorant parents. They have no clue about life and are probably very limited in their education. However, you have your own ideas and can shape your own opinions. This seems to be what is happening. Unfortunately, as long as you are under the age of 18 you must live by their rules no matter how bias and ignorant. When you move out you can make your own choices. Sorry, it really is to bad that in this day and age their are people who hold such ignorant values. God bless****

You thank your lucky stars because your more intelligent than your parents . Unfortunately because you are more intelligent the burden falls on you to tolerate your parents shortcomings ,

you cannot change the way they think so don't ruin your relationship with them trying !

A parent loves a child and a child loves a parent , real love is blind to others imperfections despite being aware of them .

Children learn by example BUT some are intelligent enough to recognise when the example is wrong and so take the opposite approach .

It may seem crazy but your parents racism has actually served to make you a better person and given you something that you will one day hopefully pass on to your own children , and that is acceptance of people for what they are regardless of creed or colour .

I think I'd be asking them why they feel that way, maybe you could try to make them see things a bit differently. I'm ok because my family are totally against racism, so I guess it's easy for me to say have a word with them. Sometimes I think racism is just ignorance, they were probably raised that way and have gotten all their views from their parents. It's a tricky situation, just try to see why they think this way and maybe share your views with them.

At least you can see that their views are wrong and no that you wont end up like them. You could try talking to them but they are probably stuck in their ways by now and wont want to see it from any other way.

When you move out lead your life the way you want to. Dont stop seeing your coloured or asian friends, but warn them about your parents

There is not much you can do to stop your parents from being racists. Other then stop the wheel or ignorance and hatred yourself by opening your heart and mind to all people. As you get older and find a place of your own ask them to keep their racist and small minded views to themselves. When you have children tell them they cannot see the children unless they keep their views to themselves. They can drown themselves in hatred and ignorance but dont you be a part of it, and certainly keep your children away from this small minded view points. Very sad.

if you are old enough to understand that they are racists then you are old enough to make your own choices, while at home refuse to watch tv with them, refuse to listen to their racist views, maybe ask them why they feel this way, and inform them that you do not agree with the way they are behaving, stick to your guns and be strong

Don't judge your parents too harshly, remember, they were once young and inexperienced like you, there attitudes were formed in their youth, just as yours have been. Why is it that we all think that our parents have "old fashioned" ideas, then when we grow older, we become more moderate? Example, I joined the Communist party and read Soviet weekly when I was a youngster, now I'm an unashamed capitalist and vote Conservative!, we all change as we grow older! I must admit though, I've NEVER been a racist!
