I've decided to have porridge for breakfast, dinner and have a healthy tea. How good for weight loss is porridge.

Very good, it's a slow-burning complex carbohydrate that will make you feel full for a long time. Make it with skim milk and don't go overboard with the toppings. You may get sick of it pretty fast though. Find something else to alternate with.

I love my porridge with low fat milk, sliced banana and sprinkle of cinnamon!! People say you get "bored of it quickly" But I certainly don't or haven't!! It's my favourite filling breakfast early in the mornings and with some healthy snacks afterwards or just a small early dinner I lose weight all the time without hassle! (Although I am 18 and my metabolism is still quite fast so my weight always differs from 50kg to 47kg in like 2 days!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Although I think eating porridge for breakfast is a good idea, eating it for lunch as well is not to be recommended. In order to lose weight and stay healthy, it's essential that you eat a balanced diet. You would be better advised to eat fruit, plus perhaps a low fat yoghurt, or crispbreads and low fat cottage cheese for lunch, and a balanced meal at evening dinner. Porridge for breakfast provides you with a good start to the day though and if you visit the website below, you will find 20 good reasons for eating it. Reason no 15 is : 'Porridge oats are 100 per cent natural, with no added sugar, salt or additives, and are naturally low in calories. An average bowl of porridge made with water contains 171 calories.' (But I like mine made with semi-skimmed milk, which ups the calcium intake, plus one teaspoon of pure honey stirred through - a natural sweetener which is far healthier than sugar!).

Depends how much you eat, and what you put on it. 100 gms of Scott's porridge oats is 365 calories. Add only milk ,200mls semi skimmed, about another hundred. So 500 cals a bowl. You also need to ensure that your diet is balanced. This would be a risk if you kept this faddy pattern up for long. Better to go onto a diet you are more likely to stick to and is more natural in its distribution of food.

I have had it just about every day for 3 years now and it has helped me to lose a lot of weight. Make it half and half skimmed milk and water and add half way through the cooking a half banana sliced thinly, it is really good. For a change add a half teaspoon of honey at the half way stage it gives a rich smell and an all enveloping flavour and it will not add to much to the calories. Another change for flavour is a little ground nutmeg on the top when cooked and is cooling. This also gives off a wonderful aroma. I should also take a multi vitamin pill with the lunch time bowl.

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

It's all about portion size and what you put on it. If you cover a huge portion of porridge with cream and sugar, you aren't doing your body any favours. Better to eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, cut down on fat and processed foods, and get plenty of exercise.
